2024 Development Water Polo Handout

 

Welcome to CBSC 2024 competitive and developmental water polo. Water polo is played in deep water and players must be comfortable treading water, and have a solid swimming background. We offer three competitive teams (12U/14U/16U) and developmental water polo (10U and splashes).

Please note BCSSA has changed their age categories for the 2024 water polo season, please register your child according to their birth year.

Competitive Water Polo (3 groups)

  1. 12U -born 2013/2012
  2. 14U – born 2011/2010
  3. 16U – born 2009
  • All competitive players must be able to swim 200 meters unassisted.
  • Practices M/T/Th/F twice a day (mornings and afternoons) plus tournaments (TBA)
  • Fee: $160/month ** July only is possible but if you want to play in August you must play in July

Developmental Water Polo (2 groups)

  1. 10U – born 2014/2015
  2. Splash program 2016/2017

10U training days (once a day/4 days a week, afternoons)

  • All 10U players must be able to swim 25m unassisted and be able to tread water comfortably, on their own, in the big pool.
  • Fee: $85/month

Splashes training days (twice a week for 30 min. Mon/Thurs or Tues/Fri, afternoons)

  • Practices will be in the small pool. The program introduces swimming skills, ball handling skills, and basic water polo game knowledge.
  • Fee: $65/month

BCSSA (British Columbia Summer Swimming Association)

BCSSA is required for all competitive disciplines (speed swimming, water polo and artistic swimming). The annual fee of $43 is valid until April 30, 2025, and includes all competitive disciplines in which you participate. You do not need to register again if you participated in Spring Training and already have BCSSA.

Please note that BCSSA is also required for any swimmers in the Developmental swim group who would like to attend swim meets during the summer (aside from the CBSC B Meet).
