Crescent Beach Swimming Club
Core Values

MISSION STATEMENT (OUR PURPOSE)

“Create a community where children can have fun and learn skills & sportsmanship, while doing a variety of outdoor summer activities in a safe and inclusive beach environment; making memories for generations to come.”

CBSC VALUES (WHO WE ARE)

At the Crescent Beach Swimming Club our purpose is to foster outdoor summer activities, events, and leadership opportunities for kids within a fun and supportive environment. At CBSC, we put kids first. Supported by their coaches, parents, and grandparents, kids are at the heart of everything that happens here, guiding our values. Some might say a CBSC summer is the greatest summer a kid could have.

These four core values set us apart; are part of our DNA, and guide us in creating unforgettable summers at CBSC:

Tradition Keeping

Our unique and time-honoured traditions are the heartbeat of our community. With a fast-paced 8-week calendar, we are steadfastly grounded in our traditions. We embrace our sometimes quirky and fun summer events as annual sources of joy. From the Sandcastle Contest, Bullhead Derby and Parent’s Night Out, to Bingo and the Tank Swim, these gatherings ensure a jam-packed summer, creating lasting memories. As we celebrate these traditions, we also embrace our role as stewards of Crescent Beach. We recognize the importance of this beautiful setting in shaping our experiences and who we are as CBSC’ers.

Enthusiastic Volunteering

We are a volunteer-run club, and our roots of servant leadership and volunteerism are our backbone. CBSC grew from humble beginnings; we’re not afraid of hard work and getting our hands dirty. We empower our volunteers to become leaders and take ownership. Our volunteers are dedicated and resourceful, generously donating their time to create unforgettable summer magic for our kids, while leaving a legacy for generations to come.

Generational Mentoring

Our recipe for success is the ongoing cycle of mentorship across generations — from tiny tots to grandparents; committed to developing, supporting, and entrusting our young adults as leaders along the way. The young learn from older generations, transitioning from learners to coaches, and then to young parent volunteers to seasoned grandparents who have volunteered for decades. Our coaches, who once looked up to their own coaches, now inspire the next wave. Members who return with their own kids appreciate the generations of leaders before them who have been guardians and have sustained CBSC for over 100 summers.

Lifelong Relationship Building

The love and passion for CBSC is handed down from one generation to the next. The bonds forged among kids, coaches, alumni, and long-time members extend beyond a single summer. Our activities and events are not just gatherings; they are reunions for families and friends that often span three generations. While CBSC’s 8-week program is brief, the relationships it fosters are lifelong.
