Long Weekend Vibes
Happy BC Day long weekend everyone! August has snuck up on us once again… every year it just feels just a wee bit too fast. Our club offers so many opportunities to participate and get active – make sure to get out and do all the things you’ve wanted to do this summer before it’s too late!
Please note, lessons continue as usual on Monday August 7.
SWIMMING
Speed Swimming
Good Luck to our competitive swimmers at the Fraser South Regional Championship this weekend. The swim meet will be at Watermania this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Go Seahorses!
Artistic Swimming
Last Thursday night, CBSC Competitive Artistic Swimmers gathered at Guildford Pool for Regionals. Unfortunately, the event hit a snag as the pool had to be evacuated before it even started. It was an unforgettable experience with firefighters spraying down the athletes as part of a full HazMat response! With the event canceled, a tough decision was made to grant all athletes a bye to Provincials in Nanaimo on August 15th. Best of luck to all the Provincial-bound athletes!
But fret not, they still have one more chance to showcase their hard work. Join us this Wednesday, August 9th at 6:30pm at the CBSC Main Pool for the CBSC Artistic Swimming Exhibition. It’s a fantastic opportunity for Star swimmers to witness the skill and artistry of competitive art swimming! Following the exhibition, don’t miss out on the CBSC Alumni Water Polo game at 6:45pm!

WP Alumni Game, Wednesday August 9
Calling all past and present CBSC water polo coaches! Please join us for our annual CBSC alumni water polo game, Wednesday August 9, at 6:45pm. Everyone is welcome to come cheer on and watch our past and present coaches play our current U16 team.
Triathlon, Sunday August 20
The annual CBSC Kids Triathlon is coming up on Sunday August 20st at 8:30am. Registration opens Friday, August 4th and closes August 17th. Age groups are 9-10, 11-12 and 13-15 years old (by Dec. 31st). Check ActiveNet for more details for this awesome event!
Pentathlon, Friday August 4 (Tonight!)
Registration is over for the August 4th Pentathlon. If you are registered, meet at the lifeguard tower right after Footraces.
Next date is Friday, August 11
- FREE for ages 8 – 12 (must be 8 as of August 31, 2021) MUST BE A STRONG SWIMMER and comfortable swimming in the ocean.
- Be prepared to do some ocean swimming, running and even get messy, depending on the theme of the day!
- Register through your online ActiveNet account starting at 9am on Saturday.
- Deadline is by 2pm, Thursday, August 10.

Pick up your July Gala ribbons in the Clubhouse using the entry off of the pool deck.
TENNIS
Tennis Carnival, Wednesday August 9
The Tennis Carnival is next Wednesday, August 9th from 3 – 5 pm – please note the time change. Come on out and play some tennis games, win some cool prizes and test your skills! The Tennis Carnival is a fun event for all CBSC Junior Tennis players.
Reminder to parents and kids that rackets and balls are to be used on the tennis courts only. We appreciate your help keeping our area safe for all.

The Semiahmoo Cup, August 12
The fifth annual Semiahmoo Cup is taking place Saturday, August 12 at Blackie Spit. Be a part of this historic relay race started in 1922 between arch rivals, the WRASA Killer Guppies and the CBSC Seahorses. This fun relay race will involve an ocean swim, beach run and laps in the pool.
Breakfast to follow after the Trophy Ceremony. Save-On Foods is sponsoring croissants and cookies and Crescent Coffee House is supplying the hot chocolate and coffee. BYOM – Bring your Own Mug!
We are welcoming swimmers and runners of all ages.

Tennis Court Dance (Little Kids’ Dance)
Tuesday, August 22nd from 6 – 7pm FREE
Calling all kids 7 and under to dress up in your favourite party clothes and join Rhys and a special guest on the tennis courts for “Sally’s Shaker”. Have a great time dancing, then finish with a treat! To help us with our planning, please register through your ActiveNet account by 10am on Monday, August 21.

Our beautiful facilities is taken care of by our awesome facilities crew. It is well used and well loved throughout the summer and we take pride in keeping it clean. Please do your part by putting your garbage and recycling in the appropriate bins, and if you happen to see some garbage, please pick it up. Thank you for your help!
