Week 1
We’re off to a Swell 🌊 , Swimming 🏊🏽 , Smashing 🎾 Start!
Happy Friday everyone! The first week of CBSC did not disappoint: the sun was shining, concession was hopping, lessons across all disciplines were full of happy kids meeting their coaches for the first time, and the Seahorse Picnic was a hit last night. So many family fun activities, and a meet and greet of the coaches, staff and board members too. The best part? We get to continue the fun for the next 7 weeks. And THANK YOU to everyone for doing their part in keeping our beautiful facilities clean. There are lots of events coming up on the calendar so don’t miss out.
A reminder to practice safe biking and driving when getting to and from CBSC. Speed limit is 30 km/h – please no speeding!
For drivers, we encourage you to stay on the main roads so the side streets can be free for young children biking & walking to and from lessons.
Parents, we’d really appreciate it if you could talk to your kids (young and old) about biking around CB, and coming down the hill from Sandy Trail or any other pathways. Bikers need to remember to share the roads and lanes with cars (and people!); stay on the shoulder of the road and slow down at any cross traffic pathways.
Also, our Artistic Swim Program takes place at the Mathisen Farm, located immediately after the railroad tracks, as you round the corner onto Sullivan St. Please be aware of the crosswalk.

Cardio Tennis on Wednesdays!
Our cardio tennis class is so popular, we added a third class on Wednesday mornings at 7:45 am. There is still space available, call the office to register.
Mixed Doubles Tournament

It’s time to team up, unleash your skills and take on opponents with a dash of witty banter and a hint of competitive camaraderie! The CBSC Mixed Doubles Tournament starts at 10am Sunday morning. Lastly, a gentle reminder: Please ask your children not to take the tennis balls from the tennis area. We need these balls to teach all summer and we are already missing a significant amount of balls in just the first week. Much appreciated, and thank you!

Parent’s Night Out! Saturday, July 15

Parent’s Night Out celebrates the amazing community of parents and grandparents of CBSC. Now being hosted on the spacious grounds of Camp Alexandra we have capacity for more club members. We’d love to see as many of you out there celebrating with us!
On July 15, bring your Hollywood style and get entertained by some special guests stars, enjoy some snacks and have a dance. Doors open at 6pm and we have seating and tables for those who care to watch the festivities from afar.
This year’s, on the house, welcome drink is champagne (we’ll have an alcohol free option). It will be available as you enter the party from 6-7pm. At the bar drinks at $5 each and the bar is open 6-10pm. Dancing wraps at 11pm and we hope you’ll continue your revelry at private homes after the party ends.
We can’t wait to see the amazing costumes and enjoy a night of fun with you all! To be sure, there will be some major celebrities and Hollywood couples attending this event.

Bullhead Derby, Thursday, July 13 (ages 12 and under)
Join us at the pier Thursday, July 13 for the JULY 2023 BULLHEAD DERBY! Rumour has it the bullheads are biting. Registration at the pier at 6pm, fishing from 6:30 to 7:30pm, followed by prizes, prizes, prizes!!! Bring your own bait, tackle and rod. See you at the pier. ~ FREE

Sandcastle Contest
Sunday, July 16th
9:30-11:30am
Join us for a morning of family fun and competition! Bring your building tools and sandcastle ideas. Arrive at 9:30am. Digging starts at 10am. Judging at 11am. Awards at 11:30am. Kids – we’re relying on you to pull more weight this year given PNO is the night before!
Location: Front beach at the end of Beecher Street. In front of Abernethy’s house at 2756 O’Hara Lane.
Pentathlon
Save these dates to participate in upcoming events:
July 14, August 4 and August 11
- FREE for ages 8 – 12 (must be 8 as of August 31, 2023) MUST BE A STRONG SWIMMER and comfortable swimming in the ocean.
- Be prepared to do some ocean swimming, running and even get messy, depending on the theme of the day!
- Participants must register through your online Active Net account or through the office. Deadline is 2pm on Thursday before each pentathlon.
- Meet at the lifeguard tower right after Foot Races
- Registration for these will open at 9am on the Saturday following each Pentathlon.
