That it’s Been a Good One is a Given
Every week is a good one at Crescent Beach. As we enter the last week of our CBSC summer, dusk is arriving a little bit sooner. That also means everything that happens will be just a little bit sweeter, so from sun up to sun down enjoy these moments with family and friends in what time is left of summer 2023!
SWIMMING

Good Luck to our competitive swimmers at Provincials this weekend! Go Seahorses! Many of our athletes have been in Nanaimo competing already, so look for more updates to come next week.
Art Swim
It was a Seahorse sweep at the 2023 Artistic Swimming Provincials!! A huge congratulations to our athletes who are all bringing home some serious hardware from their artistic swimming performances this past Tuesday! Our beginner team’s routine Rio won Gold: Annabelle Cranston, Grace Keighron, Maddie Hadfield, Capri Pearsall, Lily Douglas, Addison Miller, Daelyn Miller. Our Intermediate Duet won Gold: Cora Clendenin, Natalia Phillips. And Chloe Berretta brought home two gold medals for her Tech and Free Solo.
But wait, the excitement doesn’t end there! Summer is far from over, and our 109 recreational artistic swimmers are putting the final touches on their Star routines for the much-anticipated Artistic Swimming Star Show. Mark your calendars for August 24th at 7pm, as the CBSC Main Pool transforms into a stage for this dazzling event. We extend a warm welcome to all club members to join us in bidding farewell to summer with this spectacular showcase. See you there!
LAST CALL FOR AUGUST GALA SIGN UP
The August Swim Gala takes place at the Club pool and begins immediately following the Tanker Swim.
Deadline for sign-up is 3pm on Monday, August 21. Deck entries will NOT be allowed for individual races but will be allowed for relays. Sign up NOW on the bulletin board outside the Clubhouse.
You are eligible to participate in the Gala if you have attended at least one week of lessons in the four weeks prior to the Gala or have attended three weeks of lessons over the summer. Swim Lessons, Artistic Swimming, Developmental and Competitive Swimming, Water Polo, Triathlon, Lifesaving, and Junior Lifeguard Club all qualify.
Completion of a Tanker swim is preferable before the first Gala.

Kids Triathlon, Sunday August 20
The annual Kids Triathlon is coming up on Sunday, August 20th! Age groups are 9-10, 11-12 and 13-15. Good luck to all of our athletes!
TENNIS
August Tournament, August 21 – 25
Next week is tournament week! The August Tournament replaces all lessons during the final week of tennis, except 4/5 Red Ball and Adult lessons. Sign up on ActivenNet or in the office. DEADLINE TO SIGN UP: Friday August 18 @ 9pm.
Tennis Awards, August 26 4pm
Come and celebrate our amazing tennis players as they receive the coveted CBSC family trophies for their excellence in tennis. Starting at 4pm on Courts 1 and 2.
SAILING
August Regatta, Saturday August 19
The August Regatta is scheduled for Saturday August 19th. Come test your mettle against your fellow sailors with trophies and bragging rights up for grabs! New for this event is the “Chutes and Wires” category, which should either produce dramatic feats of skill or YouTube worthy fails, either of which will be entertaining!
Following the Regatta, we will be hosting the Sailing BBQ at the pool beginning at 5:00pm. Burgers (Beef & Beyond) are available with salads and drinks & chips to be pre-purchased on ActiveNet. Bring your swimsuit!

Sally’s Shaker (aka Tennis Court Dance/Little Kids’ Dance)
Tuesday August 22 from 6 – 7pm FREE
Calling all kids 7 and under to dress up in your favourite party clothes and join Rhys and a special guest on the tennis courts for “Sally’s Shaker”. Have a great time dancing to some great beats, then finish with a treat! To help us with our planning, please register through your ActiveNet account by 10am on Monday, August 21.
REMINDERS
SWIM FUN DAY! The Theme for August is Royalty! Dress up as your favourite Royal Character and join the coaches in a fun filled day of costume, candy and more!! Swim Fun Day will be on your last lesson day of August. For most Swim Programs, that will be Friday, August 25.
