Week 8 – The Final Days
No, it’s not the Apocalypse, but these are the final days of another CBSC Summer! Not sure who is more tired – the parents, the coaches or the kids. Some of the parents might look like zombies though, from the sheer exhaustion of keeping up with the schedule.
Take a moment today to thank your coaches, a facility crew, a lifeguard, a concession worker or office staff member. They are the glue that have allowed our kids to have such a memorable summer, and having a blast each and every day. They keep they club ticking like clockwork. Your kids are gonna’ miss them when they’re gone…until next summer.
If you didn’t catch the news about our very own Emma Baecker and her heroic life-saving efforts at the beach last week, you can read an article here. Emma – thank you for your quick thinking to save this man’s life. This incident serves as a good reminder to all of us of the importance of water safety and awareness.
This summer CBSC supported the Sox Box program with Bingo Giving Back and Camp A Concession Day. With the generous support of members we helped provide weekly grocery boxes to 40 families in the community. This program will continue to run through to the end of September. If you are interested, you can continue to support Sox Box by dropping off donations at Camp Alexandra every Tuesday morning from 11-1pm. They can also reach out to the Sox Box volunteer team if they would like to help prepare the boxes for recipients. Thank you to Sarah Lo for spearheading and coordinating our efforts!
SWIMMING
Back from Swimming Provincials this past weekend in Kamloops 🥇🥈🥉 , CBSC won 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 9 bronze medals! There were also many personal best times and swimmers swimming in finals or consoles. Way to go, team!
AUGUST TANKER SWIM & GALA
Sunday August 29
- 9am: Tanker Swim at the Point
- Immediately following: Gala Races at the Club pool
- 3pm: Half Mile Swim at the Point
- 3:30pm: Awards Ceremony at the Point where Footraces are held

Triathlon
The annual Kids Triathlon event was a big success for all of our CBSC triathletes! Huge thanks to the volunteers, parents, facilities crew and coaches for helping to make this event safe and fun for everyone. Congratulations to all the finishers, who each received a limited edition swim cap, a custom certificate and badge, as well as awards and draw prizes! See you next year!
TENNIS
The August Tennis Tournament is almost complete with just a few more groups playing today to finish off a packed week of singles and doubles match play on the courts. Congratulations to all of the winners!
