Week 7
Less Than a Fortnight Left, so Enjoy
One could argue a CBSC kid has a busier schedule than Taylor Swift on her world Eras Tour. From late nights to early mornings, the kids are living like pop stars. You may also be having Olympic withdrawals, so there’s no better place to be than CBSC – from the Semiahmoo Cup, to Swimming Provincials, and the Sailing Regatta, we get to cheer on our local home-grown Canadian athletes. Our very own Olympian, Leslie Cliff’s silver medal from the 1972 Munich Olympic Games was on display on Friday night at BINGO and Monday in the Clubhouse. If you missed it and want to read more, go to our 100 Summers history book (pages 96 and 97).
Or here for more information on Leslie’s swimming career:

Late last week (sorry, didn’t make press time), it was a night to celebrate and recognize our volunteers, and in particular two incredible and indelible volunteers were awarded the CBSC Volunteer Award:
Tanja and Adrian Phillips
Both have a healthy list of volunteer roles that they have done at the club. Tanja happily spent countless hours carrying out her various CBSC duties, including Swim Chair through Covid and the new pool, over the past 7 or 8 summers (the equivalent of a full time job!). In 2020, Tanja helped make that Covid summer happen for all of us! Adrian has been recognized for his expertise, including not just as the CBSC director of officials, but currently as the Fraser South Regional director of officials. He teaches stroke and turn sessions to new volunteers including each summer at CBSC. Together, they epitomize what this award of recognition stands for in the Club and as Ambassadors outside the Club, and they 💚 CBSC!!!
We also have to say goodbye to board members Paul Botelho – 8 years, and Cam Nelson – 7 years. Thank you for your guidance, wisdom, and humour along the way!
SWIMMING
Many of our swimmers are competing at the BCSSA Provincials this week, going into the weekend. More updates to come as the week progresses. Go Seahorses!
Results are as follows:
Water Polo
12U – Bronze 🥉
14U – Gold 🥇
Ocat – Gold 🥇
That’s 3 podium finishes for CBSC, and some very competitive games played throughout!
Comp Art Swim
Here are the teams:
Our Intermediate Rihanna team won Gold in both their free and tech routines.
Our Beginner Celebrity team won Gold in both their free and tech routines.
Our Beginner Dua Lipa team won Silver in their free routine and placed 5th in their tech routine.
Congratulations to our entire team! It was a special day for all of our swimmers and coaches! Oh yeah!
