Still 2 Weeks to Enjoy ☀️
By this time of the summer CBSC calendar, it’s hard to keep track of what’s happening – simply because their is so much good stuff happening! Whether you are participating in these last events and activities, or cheering someone on as a coach, parent or grandparent, cousin, friend or aunt or uncle, the last 2 weeks are always exciting and special.
AUGUST FUN DAYS!
The Theme for August will be IN THE GARDEN 🌼 ! Dress up as your favourite flower, fruit, vegetable, garden creature or animal, or gardener and join the coaches in a fun filled lesson of costumes, candy and more!!
Tennis Fun Days: Due to the Tennis Tournament during the last week of our programs, Tennis Fun Days will take place during your August Tennis lesson on either Thursday, August 15, Friday August 16, or Saturday, August 17!
Swim Program Fun Days: Will be on your last lesson day of August on either Thursday, August 22 or Friday, August 23.
SWIMMING
BCSSA Provincials at UBC
This upcoming week, many of our athletes will be competing at provincials. All of our Water Polo teams (12U, 14U and Ocat2) are off to provincials due to wild cards being awarded. Hooray! Our Artistic Swimming teams gave us a sneak peak of their performances at the exhibition on Wednesday, as they’ve been working very hard at polishing their routines. And our Speed swimmers were just finalized. More information to come as the week unfolds. Good luck to all of our Seahorses as they represent CBSC at UBC!

AUGUST TANKER SWIM
- The August Tanker Swim takes place at the tanks at The Point on Sunday, August 25 at 9am.
- Eligible tankers in lessons will be contacted through their swim coach with a letter handed out in class. However, if your child is in Strokers 1 swim lessons or higher, please let their swim coach know right away if they have never swum the tank and are interested in participating.
AUGUST GALA SIGN UP
- The August Swim Gala takes place at the club pool and begins immediately following the Tanker Swim, August 25.
- Sign Up NOW on the bulletin board outside the Clubhouse. Deadline for sign-up is 3pm on Monday, August 19. Deck entries will NOT be allowed for individual races but will be allowed for relays until 11:30am on Gala Day.
- Full Gala details and rules are posted at the Clubhouse.
July Gala Ribbons
- We still have some unclaimed July Gala ribbons in the Clubhouse for pickup. Enter using the doorway off of the pool deck.
PENTATHLON
Friday, August 16
- Come out and cheer on the participants of the last Pentathlon of the summer!
- If you are registered, meet at the lifeguard tower right after Footraces.
Kids Triathlon
- The annual CBSC Kids Triathlon is coming up on Sunday, August 18th at 8:30 am.
- Registration is now open and closes on August 15th. Age groups are 9-10, 11-12, and 13-15 years old (by Dec. 31st).
- Check ActiveNet for more details about the race distances, and to register for this awesome event!
- The cost is $5 and space is limited.

One of our favourite events of the summer is almost here! Sign up through ActiveNet. Only the child needs to sign up, although both participants must be current CBSC Members. Ages are as of December 31, 2024.

August Regatta & BBQ
Saturday, August 17
- Come and race against your fellow sailors for a chance to win some shiny hardware.
- Registration is on ActiveNet or at the beach on race day.
- Sign up on the beach will close 30 mins. before each race.
Following the Regatta is the Sailing BBQ and Awards held at the CBSC pool. Choice of beef or veggie burger with drink and chips for $10 pre-purchase order on ActiveNet. Bring your swimsuit!

Men’s Golf Recap
Another year in the books for Men’s Golf! We celebrated afterwards with our awesome German theme with great food, drinks and laughs. Congrats to our 2024 winners with a score of 64?🧐🤔🫢😛 (it was later verified) Alistar Veen, Greg Lutz, Danny Zigich and Antonio Hsu! Also winning the Annual Gerbil 🐹 award from this group was Alistar Veen! Look for his “G” labelled cup for a special pick me up lol! Thanks to all the golfers such a great group and fun times! Special thanks to Heidi and Teri as well as the pool crew and office staff for their help. Next year we go Italy 🇮🇹 inspired! Budda Boom!

Kidd Medal Photograph

Calling all KIdd Medalists! Did you know, this summer is the 100th anniversary of the Kidd medal, recognizing our 6 youngest tank swimmers of the summer? To help recognize this milestone, we are going to take a photograph of all past Kidd medalists at 3:45pm at the Footraces location, just before the start of the award ceremony. (Parents of this years’ medalists will be notified before the photo, but the official recognition of their achievement will be recognized at the start of the awards ceremony.) Please help us to pass along this information to all generations. Looking forward to seeing everyone on August 25th.
