Week 6 – Another Week Through?!
Time keeps on ticking and it’s hard to believe there are only two weeks left of CBSC Summer 2022. There’s still lots to do, so get out there and enjoy!
The Sox Box Concession Day yesterday was a major success and we raised a total of $500 for Alex House! Thank you for giving back.
The Semiahmoo Cup is this Saturday morning, so come on down and cheer on your fellow Seahorses as they compete against cross-town rivals WRASA.
Thank you to everyone for your enthusiasm for wearing your wristbands this summer! We have winners from the #bandonhands IG contest who were entered into a draw for some fabulous prizes. A special thank you to talented painter/artist Anne Walsh (annewalshpaintings.com) and handcrafted wooden artist Mitchell Bell (clunkartmanufacturing.com) for donating prizes! AUGUST FUN DAYS!
The theme for August will be HEROES! Dress up as your favourite Hero and join the coaches in a fun filled day of costume, candy and more!!
Tennis Fun Days will take place on Thursday, August 18 and Friday August 19 due to the Tennis Tournament the following week! Swim Fun Day will be on your last lesson day of August. For most Swim Programs, that will be Friday, August 26.
SWIMMING
This past weekend the CBSC Comp Swim Team swam at the Fraser South Regional Championship Meet. We had 69 swimmers proudly compete for CBSC!
We had many top 8 finishes, tons of PB’s (that’s swimmer-speak for personal best) and 31 swimmers and 9 CBSC coaches qualified for the BCSSA Provincial Championships including 11 CBSC relay teams! Also 9 of our swimmers were invited to be on the Regional Relay Teams – way to go!

July Gala Ribbons

Semiahmoo Cup
Saturday, August 13
After a COVID hiatus, 2022 marks the 4th annual Semiahmoo Cup! This fun relay race will involve an ocean swim, beach run and laps in the pool. Be a part of this historic rivalry between CBSC and WRASA by cheering on the teams. Fun for the whole family!
AUGUST TANKER SWIM
The August Tanker Swim takes place at the tanks at The Point on Sunday, August 28 at 9am. Eligible tankers in lessons will be contacted through their swim coach with a letter handed out in class. However, if your child is in Strokers 1 swim lessons or higher, please let their swim coach know right away, if they have never swum the tank and are interested in participating.
AUGUST GALA SIGN UP
The August Swim Gala takes place at the club pool and begins immediately following the Tanker Swim.
Sign Up NOW on the bulletin board outside the clubhouse. Deadline for sign-up is 3pm on Monday, August 22. Deck entries will NOT be allowed for individual races but will be allowed for relays.
You are eligible to participate in the Gala if you have attended at least one week of lessons in the four weeks prior to the Gala or have attended three weeks of lessons over the summer. Artistic Swimming, Competitive Swimming, Water Polo, Triathlon, Lifesaving, Junior Lifeguard Club, and Swim Lessons all qualify.
Completion of a Tanker swim is preferable before the first Gala.
You must sign up in your specific age group. Your age is as of the day of the Gala.
Participants may only register in one Freestyle event in their age group and may only sign up in TWO INDIVIDUAL races. Participants may sign up for as many relays as they wish. Relays include Family and Adult races.

Triathlon
The Kids Triathlon is coming up on August 21st at 8:30 am. The deadline to enter this fun, annual event is Thursday, August 18 at 1pm in the Clubhouse or on ActiveNet for each of the age groups 9-10years; 11-12 years, and 13-15 years old. More info about distances etc. is available online. The cost is only $5 and includes a limited edition swim cap!
If you can spare some time to be a course marshal and cheer on our triathletes between 8:15-10 am on August 21st, we’d love to see you out. Please email triathlon@cbswimclub.ca. Thank you!
TENNIS
Wednesday’s Tennis Carnival saw many kids swinging rackets, taking on the coach’s challenges and running back and forth from the courts to the prize table! Thanks to all who came out to make this summer’s carnival a success!

Next up, the Parent/Grandparent/Legal Guardian and Child Tournament is this Sunday, August 14, from 10am – 4pm. This is one of our favourite events of the summer! Register on ActiveNet. Registration is strongly encouraged but drop-ins are welcome. Please check-in at the Pro Shop 15 minutes before your event. The concession will be open for coffee and breakfast snacks. Sailing Regatta
Saturday, August 20
Sailing Regatta Saturday August 20th first race at 11am. Race registration on ActiveNet. BBQ and awards following the races at the pool from 5-8pm. Tickets for the BBQ also available on ActiveNet. Good luck to all the sailors, for the wind and the waves are always on the side of the ablest navigator.

Calling all kids 7 and under to dress up in your favourite party clothes and join Rhys and a special guest on the tennis courts for “Sally’s Shaker”.
