Week 4 – And Four More to Go
CBSC has been built upon a spirit of volunteerism spanning over 100 years. And our relationship with Camp Alexandra also has a long history over many, many decades. Last Friday’s food drive to support our friends at Camp A’s Sox Box program was a success, and is another example of our giving spirit. At our next BINGO (August 19) we’ll be doing another Food Drive for their Sox Box program, so mark your calendar – now. (Seriously, go to your calendar and write it down right now – I’ll wait…)

On Monday night, some very interesting creatures, objects and fish were caught on the pier at the Bullhead Fishing Derby. Congrats to the winner of the biggest bullhead, Gwen Betts.
Tuesday was the Snail River Run – click HERE for the results of all of the race categories. It was a challenging day to run with the heat, but the racers prevailed!
August lessons will begin this Monday, August 1st, on BC day.
SWIMMING

Come out and cheer on our tankers at The Point, on Saturday, July 30 at 9am, immediately followed by the July Gala. We are requesting some volunteer help for deck food and concession, please sign up if you can! After all, lots of swimming makes people very hungry.

Artistic Swim
Congratulations to all our Competitive Artistic Swimmers who competed this week at the Lower Mainland Regionals. Next competition is BCSSA Provincials in Kamloops! The coaches couldn’t be more proud of their performances. Way to go girls!
Water Polo
The Annual CBSC Water Polo Tournament was another huge success this year. With 6 clubs and over 150 athletes spanning three age divisions, there were a lot of waves, cheering and goals erupting from the pool. Crescent Beach displayed our usual great hospitality and a big thank you has to go out to all the volunteers in concession and our wonderful water polo leaders that helped out behind the scenes. The teams now look forward to Regionals next week!
Triathlon and Masters Groups – August Lessons Available
Our 6-7 year old tiny tri group were all amazing and completed their first triathlon yesterday.
There is still room in masters run, masters power walking, tiny tri and 13-15 year old triathlon for August. Contact the office to register!
TENNIS
The July Singles Tournament was on Wednesday and the players were serving up some sizzling rallies, serves and volleys on the courts.
Next up, the Men’s and Women’s Doubles Tourney on Sunday.
SAILING
July Regatta Update
The July Regatta provided our sailors with some perfect summer weather, and some challenging conditions! With the sun and moon aligned, mariners were faced with a daunting tidal current and only a light summer breeze with which to take it on. Unfazed, competitors put on an impressive display of tactics and skill for July’s instalment of our regatta series, and we look forward to August when the trophies are up for grabs!
August is a new month, and we have some additional sailing and paddleboard programming for those that want to get salty:
Family Sail – Want to enjoy some amazing Crescent Beach Sunsets at the beach? Why not do that and learn to sail at the same time! Family Sail in August serves up some of the best Crescent Beach has to offer in a week of lessons that will get you and your family comfortable in our spacious RS Quest boats. 6:00 – 8:30pm M,T, Th, F.
Sail Gold – Due to overwhelming demand, we are now offering another set of Sail Gold. This is for Sailors working on their CanSail 3 or 4, and is offered Weeks 7-8 from 12:00 – 3:00.
Stand Up Paddleboard – Two weeks of lessons will introduce stoke and balance techniques while exploring the Crescent Beach waterfront
Teen Paddleboard – We have also added two new dates for teen paddleboard: August 11 & 25th. Come out and enjoy the sunset with your friends, both old and new!

Lost, and not yet Found
Our Lost and Found is located behind Tennis courts 3 and 4. Please come claim your towels, water bottles, swim suits, sweatshirts, goggles and more. After the July Gala weekend, these items will be donated, so make sure to take a look.
