WEEK 1 WAS TOO MUCH FUN!

We are almost finished week one of the new facilities and back to almost a “normal” fun-filled summer. I’ve been popping in and watching a few classes this first week and have noticed lots of smiling faces, both young and old. I’m sure the kids are falling asleep like rocks with so many activities to tire them out!

All the new facilities look fantastic, and we are making great use of them.

Clubhouse Office Hours

  • Our Clubhouse office will still be virtual at times but will be open during the following hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays: 9:00am – 2pm

Registration Additions

During our initial registration there were limitations to the number of classes per member. Although choices are limited, members may now sign up for extra classes. Please check ActiveNet for information on available programs and email your requests to info@cbswimclub.ca starting at 8pm Sunday, July 11. We will not accept requests before that time and will process them in the order in which they are received. Be sure to include: the member’s name, the course name and activity number, and a phone number where you can be reached, should we need to contact you.

SWIMMING

Artistic Swimming
We have a record number of Recreational Artistic Swimmers this year with 115 swimmers in Stars 1-10! A special welcome to all our newest Star 1 swimmers.

Stroke and Turn Officials Training Clinic

Wednesday July 14th 6-8pm at the CBSC Clubhouse.

Calling all parents of Comp and Dev Swim kids – we need you! This is your chance to learn about what the officials do on deck at a swim meet, how to become an official and begin your training. And then on Wednesday July 21st you can test out your new skills at our CBSC B Meet
(more info to come). Refreshments will be served and your trainer will be Adrian Phillips so a fun night is sure to be had by all!

TENNIS

Tennis has hit the courts swinging, and coaches, players and parents are enjoying the new view of the tennis courts.

Tennis Ladder

The 2021 CBSC tennis ladder will begin on Friday, July 9th! All participants will receive an email update with access to their personalized ladder spreadsheet and a local tennis court directory. The CBSC courts are reserved for ladder match play every Saturday from 11am-2pm. For any progressive ladder matches we will have Orange and Green Dot balls available in the tennis pro shop!

SAILING

Great first week of summer sailing. Good times had by all in the water, learning and growing as sailors. First sunset and teen paddles this week.

LESSONS UPDATE:
Our Junior Waterfront Sailing Course (formally the Junior Waterfront Safety Course) is now open to ages 6-9. Space still available, so please contact the office at info@cbswimclub.ca

CBSC Concession

Come visit us at our new CBSC Concession! We have fresh baked goods from Crescent Coffee House and Cobs Bread, healthy snacks, cold drinks, and coffee.

  • We’re open from 9am-1pm, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • We take credit and debit cards for payment.
  • Starting next week we will also have loadable gift cards for sale that kids can toss in their swim bags for the summer.

BULLHEAD DERBY – July & August

Welcome back all Derby lovers! The CBSC Bullhead Derby will run “online” again this year. Submissions of ANY catch made at Crescent Beach are welcome (must be from the pier, the beach or a boat just off the beach). Please include the lengths of any bullheads caught along with a photo. Feel free to have fun and get creative! Entries will be accepted until the end of the July session with another e-Derby to run in August. Prizes will be awarded at the end of each month. Please submit entries to BullheadDerby@gmail.com. Now get out there, and set your lines! There are plenty of fish in the sea. A reel expert can tackle anything!

SNAIL RIVER RUN (SRR)

Race Route: This race begins at the footraces field, runs along the front beach, crosses over to the back of Blackie Spit, behind Sunflower Café, all the way over to the other end of the front beach and runs along the entire front beach back to the footraces field.

#PNO2021 AMAZING RACE!

Meet at the Clubhouse at 6pm on Saturday, July 24th, for the first check point of this years #PNO2021 Amazing Race!

Team up and dress up in your best sports day gear and prepare for the challenges ahead!

Some important details:

  • teams of 2-10 ppl
  • biking, walking and/or running between check points is permitted
  • swimsuits are encouraged 😉
  • prizes for best costumes and for simply completing the race! (Incl. one pizza per team from Natalino’s!)
  • bubble parties post race encouraged!

Tickets ($25) go on sale Thursday, July 15th at 8pm on ActiveNet. One ticket per team! All team members must be listed upon registration.
