Crescent Beach Swimming Club
Thank you for your interest in the 100th Anniversary Celebration of CBSC!

We are just 1 summer away until 2018!

Save the Date and Spread the Word!

The CBSC turns 100 in 2018!  Past, present and future tankers will be coming together to celebrate this amazing milestone. The oldest summer swim club in BC now has over 1,900 active members (including 1,000 children) – and we do a lot more than swim!  Join us on July 26-29, 2018 and bring your friends and family.  We want to encourage our CBSC alumni to come back to the beach, reconnect with their summer friends, and help us celebrate.

There will be special events happening throughout the summer, but we are planning one very special weekend and have booked Camp Alexandra to ensure we have room for everybody. Here’s the plan for the 2018 CBSC Reunion Weekend:

Thursday July 26

·      Centennial BINGO (this will be BINGO like you have never seen BINGO before)

Friday July 27

·      Centennial Tanker Swim - everybody gets to swim The Tanks again, this time as a family

·      “Once Every 100 Years” Parents Night Out, with a very special Centennial Stage Show featuring the CBSC Players

Saturday July 28

·      Centennial Parade and Pancake Breakfast

·      Family BBQ and Dance Party (this is the BIG event of the weekend)

·      Fireworks on the Beach

Sunday July 29

·      July Gala and Tanker swims

·      Centennial Tennis Tournament

Calling all alumni CBSC tennis coaches!

As part of the CBSC centenary celebrations in 2018, the Tennis Committee is planning to host a tournament for all alumni tennis coaches. The tournament would be held on Sunday, July 29 as part of the big weekend of celebrations that kick off on the  27th , so not only can you dust off your racquet, you can catch up with old CBSC friends from “back in the day”!

Please contact us on so we can get an idea of numbers,  and we’ll send more details.

The CBSC was founded in 1918 when we were known as the Crescent Beach Regatta Association.
Our first gala featured 10 competitors. Today we are a volunteer-run organization with over 1,800
active participants in a range of programs including tennis, sailing, water polo, synchronized swimming, volleyball, triathlon, lifesaving… and of course swimming.

For a brief history of the CBSC, click here for a presentation made in May 2016 to the City of Surrey’s Parks, Recreation and Sport Tourism Committee.

As we gear up for our 100th anniversary, we are working on many fronts. Teams of people are scheming and planning. But in the classic spirit of volunteerism that defines the CBSC, there is always room for more people to get involved!

·      The plan is to ensure that the summer of 2018 will be the most memorable of our first 100 summers.

·      This group is working on a number of special events for our 100th summer – events that will involve past and present members and fun for all generations.

Coordinator:  John Edworthy

Archives and the Centennial Book project

·      The entire history of the CBSC is being digitized.

·      If you have old photographs or documents in your basement that should be included, we want them!  Fear not, you’ll get everything back – we just want to scan it so it can be preserved with all the other amazing artifacts and images.

·      Digitizing the archives is a foundational step towards the production of a book to celebrate the amazing history of the CBSC.

Coordinator:  Mary McNeil

·      What would a celebration be without some great mementos, no doubt featuring a few seahorses.

Coordinators:  Jamie

Facilities and Fundraising

·      Our 100th birthday provides a great opportunity for us to invest in the future of the CBSC, ensuring that our traditions live on and that future generations are able to have amazing CBSC summers of their own.

Coordinator:  Morgan Brewster
