Welcome to Synchronized Swimming 2010!

Yvonne, Kathleen, Claire and Nicola are looking forward to teaching your children synchronized swimming this summer! Synchro is best described as ballet in the water, so if you girls enjoy performing this is the perfect sport!

As a safety precaution, it is required that all girls be able to swim a minimum of 50 meters. The recommended age to begin is 8 years of age. When coming to a synchro class, you should come prepared wearing a bathing suit, along with supplying a towel and nose plugs.

July classes will be focused on reviewing basic techniques and developing new skills. The last week of July will include a star test to evaluate the swimmers’ progress. August lessons are primarily focused on learning group routines for the end of year show, which will happen on Thursday August 26^, 2010.

The Mathisen family kindly donates their pool to the synchro program, so it is for this reason that we ask that parents do not enter the property, and please drop off their kids at the gate. The pool space is limited so girls should arrive no more than 5 minutes before their lesson. The Mathisen property is on the corner of Beecher and Sullivan at 12335 Sullivan Street.

• Star One – 9:00 – 9:25

• Star Two – 9:30 – 9:55

• Star Three – 10:00 – 10:25

• Star Four – 10:00 – 10:25

• Star Five – 10:30 – 10:55

• Star Six – 11:00 –11:25

• Star Seven and above – 11:30 – 12:00

COMPETITIVE SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING 2010

Welcome to the 2010 competitive synchro program at the Crescent Beach Swim Club! On behalf of all of the synchro summer 2010 staff, we are proud to say that we all are looking forward to a successful and fun-filled summer! This program allows girls who are looking to take synchro to the next level to develop the skills of both the water and teamwork.

The girls will spend the month of July learning duet and/or team routines taught by the competitive synchro coaches. These routines, along with individual figure skills, will be evaluated at three meets through out the summer:

• Regionals on Aug. 11th at the CBSC pool from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm

• North Van Cruisers Hootenanny at UBC Aquatics Centre on July 11^th from 10:15 am-5:00 pm

• Provincials in Kamloops on August 18^th and 19^th ($50 fee per swimmer to attend Provincials to cover BCSSA judge costs and coach costs)

At these meets, each swimmer will need to have plain white cap and plain black swimsuit (inside out CBSC suit works fine). Also, each routine will need to purchase matching swimsuits that work well with the theme of that routine.

Girls are asked to come prepared with noseplugs and swimsuits to all practices. During these practices, time will be spent both in the water and on land practicing routines. The girls will be assigned to a maximum of two routines, one duet, and a possible team, depending on numbers. Also due to possible odd numbers, your daughter may only par-take in a team routine.

Practice schedule is as follows:

• Mondays from 6:15pm-8:15pm

• Wednesdays from 8:00am-11:00am
